Letters Birtukan Has Sent Us
We sponsored Birtukan in April/May 2021. We think there may be a Mango tribe here, three other children report Mango as their favorite food! It's so reassuring to know this food is available to them, we think possibly even growing in the area as it is known to be found in these areas of Ethiopia. She also like most of the children enjoys playing foot ball. The change from 8 to 9yrs old is striking, Birtukan is growing fast. She's also the only child we sponsor that aspires to be an engineer.
We don't know when her first letter to us was written but we didn't receive it until December 2021. This long delay is caused by the route these letters have to take and the impact of ongoing civil war in the region. Letters go by air, truck, bicycle, camel and foot to get to and from these rural villages.
